Hygroscopic keyboard covering with high mineral content. The material can be
practically like ivory.
Elforyn® is a high-quality, modern material. It consists of a mixture of different mineral base materials, bound in a light-stable resin component, thus permanent color stability, no yellowing.
The material was developed and tested in cooperation with the vocational school for the wood and ivory processing trade in Michelstadt in 2006.
It is the most natural ivory substitute. By using Elforyn® instead of ivory, resources can be conserved and costs reduced. No animal has to be killed, less waste is generated.
Key characteristics of Elforyn® in processing:
- Excellent mechanical workability such as milling and sanding.
- Easy to glue with wood glues
- Can be polished to produce glossy or matte surfaces.
- Low risk of fracture due to high modulus of elasticity and homogeneous microstructure.
Advantages in application:
- Pleasant haptics due to good thermal properties.
- Very low water absorption (hydrolytically stable).
- High-quality surface due to high surface hardness and low abrasion losses.
- Antistatic, does not burn.
- Resistant to all common substances such as cleaning agents oils, greases, weak to medium acids and alkalis.
Other features:
- Thermal forming in boiling water is possible.
- Creation of translucent and fluorescent effects.

Compatibility with detergents and disinfectants:
In principle, this depends on the "solvent", but there is very good resistance to common household cleaners and alcohol-based cleaners.
Alcohol-based cleaners can therefore be used for disinfection and cleaning without hesitation.
In any case, test for compatibility before use. Too frequent use can lead to brittleness of the material.
Recommended adhesive:
Bonding Elforin to other substrates is usually not a problem. Due to the highly energetic polar surface of these polyurethane systems, painting or bonding is possible without prior treatment, unlike many other plastics.
If there are any release agent residues on the surface, clean it thoroughly with alcohol. After cleaning, we recommend sanding the surfaces to be bonded.
As glue we recommend high quality wood glue with little filler.
